2020 ATHLETICS ALBERTA PROVINCIAL INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
RANKINGS
Although Covid stole the 2020 outdoor track & field season from the athletes in
Alberta, the Provincial Association was able to run a normal indoor season with
competitions taking place from late November 2019 until mid March of 2020.
Athletics Alberta has recently released the provincial rankings for all of the age
groups that took part in those competitions.
Passtrak athletes did themselves & their club proud as 10 of them are ranked in
the top 10 in Alberta in a total of 37 events. Not too shabby for a small club in a small
town with no track & field facilities!!
In the U10 boys age group, Jasper Smith was ranked in the top 10 in Alberta in
6 events: 8th in the shot-put, 5th in the 600 metres, 4th in the 150 metres & 3rd in the
400 metres, standing long jump & running long jump.
Two of Passtrak’s U10 girls made the rankings list. Marley Winter was ranked in
5 events: 7th in the standing long jump, 6th in the running long jump & 5th in the 60
metres, 150 metres & 600 metres.
Cammy Hay made the list in 6 events: 7th in the 60 metres, 6th in the 150
metres & 600 metres, 4th in the 400 metres & running long jump & number 1 in Alberta
in the standing long jump.
Colton Sutherland ranked 9th in Alberta in the U12 boys standing long jump.
Cohen Musschoot ranked in 3 events in the U12 boys division: 3rd in the 60
metres, 2nd in the 400 metres & number 1 in Alberta in the 150 metres.
Eve Winter hit the provincial charts ranking 5th in the U14 girls 400 metres.
In the U16 boys category Sawyer Sawatzky nailed down 2 spots with a 10th
place ranking in the shotput & 9th place in the high jump.
Also in the U16 boys group, Jack Bailey scored 5 top 10 rankings. He is listed
as 10th in the 60 metre hurdles, 9th in the shotput, 8th in running long jump, 4th in the
pentathlon & number 2 in Alberta in the 400 metres.
Clara Websdale claimed the number 10 ranking in Alberta in the U16 girls 400
metres.
Craig Hay represented the club excellently in the Masters Mens 35 - 39 year old
age group. He made the top 10 list in 7 events. He ranked number 2 in Alberta in the
60 metres, 200 metres, 300 metres, 400 metres, 600 metres & 800 metres. He also
claimed the number 1 spot in Alberta in the 1000 metres.

PASSTRAK CULMINATES CROSS COUNTRY SEASON
On Saturday November 7th, 12 Passtrak athletes attended the clubs 3rd & final
competition of the 2020 cross country running season.
The meet was held in Calgary & it was the Alberta Provincial Championships for
all age groups.
Three of the athletes were running in their first race of the season. Eve Winter
competed in the U14 girls 2 km event. She completed the course in 11:50 & placed
26th. Younger sister Marley, ran in the U10 girls 1 km race where she finished in 4th
place in 5:53. Jasper Smith was also running his first race & he grabbed a Provincial
Championship silver medal for his 3rd place finish in the U10 boys 1 km race. His time
was 5:12.
Two Passtrak athletes were running in their 3rd competition of the season.
Olivia Foster ran the U16 girls 4 km race in 25:56 for 25th place. That was more than 3
minutes per km faster than her previous best pace. Jack Bailey was in the 4 km U16
boys event which he completed in 19:35. He also improved his pace from his previous
race by 22 seconds per km.
The remaining 7 athletes ran the exact same distance on the exact same course
as their previous race. That is a very rare occurrence in cross country running. That
allowed them an opportunity to achieve a personal best performance. All 7 athletes
rose to the occasion & crossed their respective finish lines in personal record times.
Holden Lach finished 8th in the U10 boys 1 km event & he cut 1 minute 36
seconds off his previous time.
Felix Neniska finished 9th in the U10 boys 1 km event & he cut 1 minute 16
seconds off his previous time.
Cammy Hay placed 5th in the U10 girls 1 km race cutting 51 seconds off her
previous time.
Eli Bailey placed 16th in the U12 boys 1.2 km run where he sliced 1 minute 29
seconds off his previous time.
Nate Lach placed 11th in the U12 boys 1.2 km run & he reduced his time by 1
minute 15 seconds.
Colton Sutherland placed 6th in the U12 boys 1.2 km race where he improved
his time by 55 seconds.
Craig Hay chopped a huge 6 minutes & 5 seconds off his previous time by
completing the Masters mens 8 km race in 42:45 for a silver medal second place finish
in the 35 - 49 age group.
