Dino Opener Results - Dec. 5th

TRACK IS BACK!! The first indoor track meet of the 2021 - 2022 season took place at the University of Calgary on Sunday December 5th. Passtrak, (the Crowsnest Pass Track & Field Club), was well represented with 8 athletes taking part in 25 races during the 1 day event. There were 13 races that the athletes had competed in previously & they proceeded to improve their times in all 13 events. They also racked up 12 top 3 finishes, 4 firsts, 3 seconds & 5 thirds & set 6 new Passtrak club records for their age groups. Declan Sutherland was competing in his first official track meet as a Passtrak athlete. He placed second in the 9 year old boys 150 metres in 25.85 seconds & first in the 60 metres in 9.97 seconds. He set a new club record with a first place finish of 1:21.43 seconds in the 400 metre race. Aiden Aasen was also in his first official meet in a Passtrak uniform. He notched 3, third place finishes in the 9 year old boys group. He ran 10.74 seconds in the 60 metres, 26.72 seconds in the 150 metres & also broke the existing club record in the 400 metres in 1:25.41. Marley Winter had 3 races in the 10 year old girls division. She placed 4th in the 400 metres in a new club record time of 1:25.96. She finished second in the 150 metres in a life time best of 25.15 seconds & took first place in the 60 metres with another personal best of 9.66 seconds. Ella Peebles ran in the 11 year old girls events. She placed 15th in the 60 metres in 10.23 seconds & 15th in the 150 metres in 25.77 seconds. Her 400 metre time was 1:25.01 which earned her 10th place. Cohen Folkard produced 3 personal best performances in the 12 year old boys races. He ran the 60 metres in 9.96 seconds for 6th place & 24.88 seconds in the 150 metres for 5th spot. Then he finished off the day with a 2:45.39 for 3rd in the 800 metres. Colton Sutherland ran the same 3 races in the 12 year old boys category. He finished 7th in the 60 metres with a personal best of 9.96 seconds. Then he ran 25.25 seconds in the 150 metres for another personal best & another 7th place finish. He capped off the day with a 4th place finish in the 800 metres in 2:55.15. Eve Winter represented the club in the 13 year old girls races. She improved her times in all 3 of her events. She placed 2nd in the 60 metres in 8.82 seconds. Next she ran the 150 metres in 22.42 seconds for 4th place. Her third event was the 800 metres where she finished 9th in 3:05.80. Cohen Musschoot rewrote the Passtrak record book in the 13 year old boys age group. He came 3rd in the 60 metres in 8.28 seconds for a life time best & a new club record. Next he posted a 20.02 result in the 150 metres for 4th place, a life time best & another Passtrak club record. He finished the day with another 4th place finish in the 800 metres where he ran 2:29.82 for yet another life time best & new club record. Just to put the cherry on top, Declan, Colton, Cohen F. & Cohen M. ran together in the 12 & 13 year old boys 4 x 200 metre relay which they completed in 2:11.07 for a first place finish. The clubs next competition will take place at the University of Calgary on January 9th.

2021 Provincial XC Results

ALBERTA PROVINCIAL CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIPS. This competition was held in Wetaskiwin on Saturday November 6th. Passtrak, (Crowsnest Pass Track & Field Club), had 9 athletes take part in the event & they produced some outstanding results. In the U14 boys age group Colton Sutherland placed 18th in the 2 km race. His time was 9:55. Carson Hay was in the same race & he finished in 24th in 11:40. Eve Winter was Passtrak’s only entry in the U14 girls division. She completed the 2 km course in 12:35 for 29th place. Jasper Smith came 8th in the U12 boys 1 km race. His time was 5:20. Cammy Hay was Passtrak’s entry in the U12 girls 1 km event. She placed 19th in 6:42. Norah Smith was Passtrak’s youngest athlete in the competition. She placed 8th in the U10 girls 1 km race in 6:06. Passtrak’s U10 boys produced the club’s highest placings in their 1 km race. Felix Neniska finished 9th in 6:08. Aiden Aasen & Declan Sutherland battled it out right from the start all the way through the race with a photo finish separated by less than 1 second. They placed first & second with official times of 4:59 & 5:00 with Declan eking out the win. This event concludes the cross country running season for the club. They will now be focussing on preparation for the indoor track & field season which officially starts in Edmonton on November 28th.
