ALBERTA PROVINCIAL INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS The Provincial Indoor Track & Field Championships for athletes Midget age & older took place in Edmonton on March 3rd & 4th. Passtrak had 2 athletes represent the club in 5 events. Paige Richards competed in the Midget girls, (14 & 15 years old), category. She placed 19th in the long jump with a leap of 4.10 metres. She recorded 8.71 seconds in the 60 metres which was only 3/100’s of a second from her best ever performance for 22nd out of 48 athletes. Her best event of the weekend was the 60 metre hurdles. In her qualifying race she cut a full 1/2 second off her previous best by running 9.61 seconds. That placed her second overall by 1/100th of a second going into the final. It also broke a 12 year old Passtrak club record for her age group. In the final Paige unfortunately hit a hurdle which slowed her significantly but still managed to place 4th. Ethan Richards recently returned to Passtrak after completing his first season with the University of Lethbridge track & field team. He competed in the Junior Men’s division, (18 & 19 years old). He placed 18th in the 60 metres in 7.70 seconds. He then ran the 300 metre sprint in 39.37 seconds for 14th. This concludes the indoor season for Passtrak. They will now focus on preparing for the outdoor competitions which will start in May.
